Winter warning released in Hawaii because of snow
Forget about tropical temperatures and waving palm trees in the sun. It’s snowing in Hawaii!
It is not uncommon for Hawaii to get snow but it doesn’t happen often that the snow falls at such low attitude and so heavily. At the moment some peakes are allready covered with 90 cm of snow. The National Weather Service put out a winter storm warning for today and tonight for the big island summits. At sealevel there is no snow.
The local Ski Club tells would-be Hawaiian skiiers that “there are no lifts, no grooming, no resort, but a road goes to the summit to serve the dozen or so world-class observatories located at the summit. You must have a 4-wheel drive vehicle to get to the summit.”
Weather.com shows a timelaps video of the snow in Hawaii and notes that there
