Dutch backpacker and skipper rescued after capsizing in Australia
A Dutch backpacker and a skipper were saved after their vintage yacht capsized at the north of North Stradbroke Island, Australia.
Police launched a rescue operation about 2.30am off the east coast of Brisbane, after the yacht named Clare-D-Lune crashed into rocks at Flat Rock. The skipper (70) and Dutch backpacker Max Keller (23) managed to get on a life raft and where rescued by Water Police.
Keller started a sailing trip along the east coast of Australia one month ago. He and the skipper were on there way to Sydney when the old vessel they were on hit the rocks.
Max Keller can laugh about his adventure saying: “I’m getting the f— out of here, Australia is trying to kill me!” But he is not planning on going home just yet.
